What should be the essential sales skills any salesperson must have?
Most of all, why is it important to be in a position of not only selling but being able to have your product or service change the lives of the people you have encountered?
What are the skills that you need in order to be in this position?
#1: You have to have good listening skills. You have two ears and one mouth, as it is said, which means you are given the capacity to listen more before speaking. Listen to what your clients want to say even without directly saying it. You can do much of this if you don't speak before your clients or speak when they are also speaking.
#2: Have more empathy. You have to practice empathy with what the person is saying to you. Whenever you have the opportunity, do the “felt-found-feel” method. When you empathize, your clients know that you are listening to them and you know exactly what they need.
These are the first things that you need to get into the habit of practicing first as a salesperson. These are very essential in establishing your sale and making an impact in the lives of the people that you encounter.
